Day 2 at Humphrey Head

After a really good night's sleep all round (all children asleep by 10:45pm!) everyone is up, refreshed and ready for the exciting day ahead!

Breakfast is at 8:15am and the children have a choice of:

Cereal or porridge

Bacon Sandwiches

Toast and marmalade/jam

Orange/apple juice

All packed lunches have been made and the children got on with this job really efficiently ~ impressing all the staff enormously in the process.

The group are waiting for the Humphrey Head staff to confirm today's activities but if all goes to plan it should be bushcraft, sea level traverse and canoeing~ sounds like they'll be having a really adventurous time!

A few changes to plan today because of the blustery weather. Activities have included bushcraft, low level traversing, abseling and ghyll scrambling. The children have loved them all, especially building fires and shelters and toasting marshmallows. Sea level traversing was exhilerating and Mrs Fawcett and Mrs Hill were thrilled with their groups who went through 'Wolf's cave' and absolutely loved it! Meanwhile Mrs Smith's group all abseiled and then got completely drenched on the ghyll scramble - which they found thrilling ~ Mrs Smith describing them all as 'heroes'.

This evening the group have been treated to more wonderful delights at mealtime - they have all devoured an incredibly tasty meal of Chicken and bacon pie, roast potatoes, carrots and peas and a delicious pudding.

The first activity this evening has been the annual 'dorm inspection'! Mrs Fawcett set the theme for the inspection as wanting the rooms to be in the style of 'The Ritz'. Fierce competition set in quickly between the boys and the girls with both groups not wanting to miss a moment of getting organised following dinner. The final results were impressive with both dorms committed to the theme - Mrs Fawcett said the highlight was opening the door of one dormitory to be welcomed by a pathway of torch light - wow!!! Parents should be ready for some impressive bedrooms when they get home!

An exciting group quiz will complete the evening's activities with bedtime aimed at a slightly earlier time of 9:30pm. Overall the school staff have been thoroughly impressed by all the children today - they have really worked hard as a team, encouraging each other and reassuring those who were unsure in some of the activities demonstrating true Lothersdale School spirit - well done all of Class 4!
