Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Lothersdale Primary School, we are dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of every child. At the start of each school year, each pupil selects a trusted adult from our staff to whom they can turn for support or to discuss any concerns. Additionally, we have a Worry Box in the main entrance where children can share worries anonymously if they prefer.
Our Wellbeing Hub, located in the library, offers a calm space with a variety of wellbeing resources. Supported by our Wellbeing Lead, Mrs. Binns, the hub is a place where children can explore tools to help promote emotional resilience and positive mental health.
We also partner with external agencies and counselling charities to ensure that pupils who may need additional support have access to professional guidance and tailored interventions. Throughout the year, we host events like Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Week to raise awareness and promote positive wellbeing for all. Additionally, our high-quality SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural) and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) curriculum ensures that every child receives the social and emotional development support they need.
