On Friday 8 May 2020 Britain will be commemorating the 75th anniversary of VE Day when the guns fell silent at the end of war in Europe. If we had been at school we would have been thinking about VE Day in our classes, in assemblies and also we would have supported the village events.
Due to the coronavirus restrictions most VE Day 75 events and street parties have had to be cancelled or postponed but we still want you to be able to mark the occasion, share your pride in our country and honour the men and women of WW2.
You can make your own special VE Day 75 ‘Great British Bunting’ to display in your window at home. The following link shows you how and we've included the bunting template at the bottom of the page:
You can find out more about the importance of VE Day by looking at these two links from BBC Newsround and BBC learn:
Below there are VE Day activities that you could try which include: making bunting, making a Spitfire glider, colouring sheets and also making a celebratory fabric square for Miss Gallagher's project. Take a look and have a go!
